Abstract

officers of the British Armed Forces, using the Centre for Army Leadership (CAL) as an example. It outlines the organisational principles of the Centre as a leading institution in the sphere of professional military education, which shapes a strategic vision of leadership and ensures its implementation in officer training. The key areas of CAL's activities are revealed, including: support for scientific research (through the CAL Research Institute), promotion of professional discussion on leadership (Leadership Insights, CAL Podcast), development of informal education and personality growth through an essay competition and the CAL Activist Network. It analyses current trends that shape the content of leadership training: the use of digital educational resources, a decentralised approach to leadership training, an emphasis on the development of analytical thinking and cultural awareness, and an increased role for military leaders in social responsibility. It is argued that CAL's systematic approach to leadership competence development provides a multi-level and inclusive model for training military leaders, adapted to the challenges of the modern security environment. The role of CAL as a platform for interdisciplinary interaction, combining military and civilian leadership experience, is emphasised, contributing to the formation and development of value-oriented and ethical leadership.

The possibilities for adapting CAL best practices to the development of leadership competence among officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are identified, in particular the implementation of expert publication formats, essay competitions, cross-functional network initiatives and podcasts as means of informal education. A conclusive statement was made regarding the effectiveness of a formal and informal learning combination for ensuring the sustainable professional development of officers as military leaders.
