In the context of globalization, the increasing role of knowledge and technology in society, and the modernization of the Ukrainian education system, the issue of developing professional competence of specialists in pop-jazz vocals has become particularly relevant, as it is a key element in preparing competitive musicians capable of creative self-realization in dynamic conditions. This study aims to provide a theoretical foundation and practical implementation of the competence-based approach in the professional training of students for concert performance, with a focus on insights from international educational systems. Based on the works of Ukrainian scholars (O. Melnyk, V. Kovalenko, L. Petrenko) and foreign researchers (J. Miller, R. Edwards, L. Custodero, D. Ward-Steinman), regulatory competence is conceptualized as an integral quality that ensures self-regulation, emotional stability, creative adaptability, and effective audience interaction in concert settings.
Particular attention is paid to the experience of educational systems in the USA and European countries (notably Scandinavia and the United Kingdom), where vocal jazz education integrates informal learning, multicultural approaches, improvisational practices, and innovative technologies, such as digital vocal performance analytics. A set of individualized pedagogical technologies is offered, including methods of psychological self-regulation, interdisciplinary integration, musical material analysis, and improvisational practices, which were validated through an empirical study involving students from Ukrainian music higher education institutions. The results demonstrate significant improvements in performance mastery, emotional expressiveness, psychological resilience, and reflective skills among students.
Future research prospects include the development of digital educational platforms, multimedia training tools, online vocal courses, and the application of neuro-pedagogical approaches based on international models. This study holds theoretical significance for the advancement of pedagogical science, particularly in the field of music education, and practical value for enhancing the professional training of pop-jazz vocalists, facilitating their adaptation to contemporary challenges in the artistic environment.
