Abstract

The article summarizes foreign experience of forming students’national self-awareness in different countries of the world. Special attention is paid to methods and strategies used in education to develop national identity and pride for one’s country among young people. Examples of countries with different cultural, political and historical contexts, such as Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Japan, France, the USA, Germany, are considered. The role of history, culture, national symbols, rituals and holidays in the process of patriotic education, as well as the importance of democratic values ​​and civic responsibility for the formation of national self-awareness, are analyzed.

The article reveals the interpretation of the concepts of patriotism and national consciousness in terms of axiological (value) and activity approaches.

Considerable attention is focused on the analysis of different approaches to the formation of national identity in countries with different political, cultural and social traditions. An important direction is the study of how educational strategies and methods are changing in the conditions of democratic changes and globalization, which factors are influencing the aspects of national-patriotic education in different countries.

The author explains that in countries with developed democratic systems, such as the United States, Canada, and the European Union, the process of forming national identity is often combined with the ideas of civic responsibility, human rights, and inclusiveness.

The article emphasizes the importance of integrating global and local approaches in the formation of students’ national identity, taking into account the impact of globalization and technological changes on young people. The issue of adapting educational practices to new social realities and the needs of the younger generation, as well as the development of intercultural communication and civic activity, is highlighted. The author emphasizes the need to take into account foreign experience when improving national educational programs to stimulate a sense of patriotism and national pride among students in Ukraine. The study of international approaches, particularly in the context of globalization, democratization, and technological change, will help develop effective strategies for patriotic education that take into account the needs of modern youth.
