The article reviews the comparative and typological discourse of student physical self-improvement experience in various educational and non-educational regional systems. It also compares this experience with the aim of improving the Ukrainian national system of physical self-improvement of student youth.
The purpose of the article is to trace the trends and diversity of approaches to the comparative methodology of studying physical and bodily self-improvement and to determine the specifics, attributions, shortcomings and advantages of regional systems, their problems, traditions and innovations. For this, the authors used comparative and related methods of analysis, among which comparative-typological, comparative-comparative, socio- and psychocultural analysis, critical reflections and SWOT analysis.
The comparative approach, which involves comparing the methods used in different countries, is a powerful tool for improving the quality of education. Studies of international experience make it possible to identify the most effective practices that promote physical development and to adapt them according to the specifics of local conditions.
The use of such approach will provide an opportunity not only to improve students’ physical development, but also to make educational programs more flexible and adapted to the needs of the modern world and will contribute to the formation of students' responsible attitude to their own health and an active lifestyle. As a result, students get the opportunity to increase their physical potential and master skills that contribute to their comprehensive development and increase competitiveness in the labor market.
The conducted research resulted in systematic generalizations and representative tabloid descriptions of methods and features of regional experience in student physical self-improvement; identification of changes in comparative trends from sociology to educational practice; delineation of the "strong" and "weak" sides of various physical education systems; and the recognition of an individual approach, group social and communication practices, physical self-improvement and technological integration of approaches as leading trends in the field of physical self-improvement of modern university youth.
